The importance of farmers to the town of Sa Pobla is reflected in this sculptural ensemble by artist Remigia Caubet, created in 1971. This ensemble, formed by sculptures of a farmer and a farmwoman dressed in typical local attire, symbolizes the connection between the community and its agricultural tradition.

Originally, the sculptures were placed at the entrance of the town from s’Albufera, serving as a symbolic welcome to the field workers when they returned from their workday. With the construction works of the roundabout, it was decided to move the sculptural ensemble to the center of the roundabout.

This new location further emphasizes the importance of the figures. The symbolism of these figures transcended the town’s borders when in 2021, the image of the farmer and farmwoman was selected to feature on the ONCE lottery ticket.

This special edition of the ticket was issued during the 50th anniversary celebration of the placement of the sculptures in Sa Pobla. This distinction not only commemorated the anniversary of the figures but also recognized their cultural and historical significance at the national level.

The ONCE lottery ticket featuring Sa Pobla’s figures served as a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the farmers and brought the iconic image of Sa Pobla to the entire country. This sculptural ensemble by Remigia Caubet is much more than a work of art; it is a living testimony to the history and values of Sa Pobla.
