The building was constructed in 1877 by Francisco Villalonga. No expense was spared in its construction; after it was built, and to silence the rumors that he had gone bankrupt, he placed a legal tender coin in each of the two hundred iron nails that hold the winery door. In 1944, the building was purchased by Dr. Antoni Tugores i Serra, who trained in Germany.
