Can Flor

Traditional Mallorcan-style manor house, built in the late 18th century, consisting of several building blocks. The main portal, set into an old semicircular arch, and the stone corner are particularly notable. The (a) Flor family has played a prominent role over time in our town.

In the magazine Sa Marjal (1909-1928), we find constant mentions: Mayor Jaume Andreu Andreu (a) Mayor Flor, who held office between 1863 and 1867, was responsible for constructing the clock in the town hall. In their marsh, we have the Can Flor road that leads us to the road from Artà to Pollença. In September 1922, we find that Joana Andreu Cladera (a) Flor, died single at the age of 68, was very pious.

She had a well-attended funeral. She left a fortune of three thousand duros to establish a scholarship at the Seminary for poor students from sa Pobla and another thousand duros for her nuns. Local authors.

History and literature: From the study of land ownership, we have gathered that: In 1818, the importance of irrigated lands was already evident and significant. Secondly, the lands of Marjal were widely distributed among the population. Thirdly, we believe that the importance of medium-sized landowners would be a key piece in the socio-economic development throughout the 19th century.
