Can Rian

House owned by a branch of the extensive Rian family, a family of musicians of French origin. The first known Rian in Mallorca (specifically in Manacor) was Joan Rian, born in Toulouse in 1783.

In Sa Pobla, the first Rian appeared in 1847, almost always as carpenters and musicians. In this – house on Carrer Curt, formerly Iglesia – lived until they had their own family, the brothers Joan (1878-1969) and Antoni Rian i Cladera (1884-1975), directors of the sa Pobla music band, created in 1869.

Her mother was a Rian by lineage, and she herself acknowledged that her vital energy came from these ancestors. In fact, her musical vein is undeniable, which she dedicated to promoting Mallorcan musical tradition through the group 'Sis som'.
